simalube
How can I fill the simalube with oil?
---
Before filling the simalube with oil, press the piston all the way down to the bottom. The oil can then be added either using a small funnel or an oil syringe. With both methods, make sure that any air inside the simalube can escape during filling. After filling, seal the simalube with the yellow cap. Then screw on the cartridge and tighten it to 1.5 Nm using a torque wrench. Finally, place the washer over the cartridge. More Details here
When is the Impulse requested/suggested?
---
When there's more than 5 bar backpressure from the lubrication point or the lubrication lines sizes are over the suggested maximum length.
I need a confirmation that the simalubes are BSE/TSE-free. Is such a confirmation available?
---
Yes, a confirmation is available for all our simalubes filled with food-grade and biodegradable lubricants. Document here
If I have different lubrication points on a machine, can I make longer lines and bundle the simalubes so that I can only operate them from one place (like a central lubrication system)?
---
Basically, it's possible. As the lines probably get longer than 0.5 meters (NLGI 2 greases), it would need an Impulse to ensure that the lubricant reaches the lubrication point.
What is back pressure?
---
Back pressure is the resistance that opposes the flow of lubricant in the lubrication system. It is caused, for example, by pipes, hoses, fittings, or reducers, and thus affects the simalube’s flow rate. More Details here
How can I ensure that I don't crack the lubricator while filling it with a grease gun with more than 40 bar?
---
The maximum filling pressure is 6 bars. We recommend to stick the simalube on the filling device (NOT screwing!). By using the attached accessory parts you can easily fill simalubes without cracking it, even though you press too much lubricant inside, as the excess lubricant can escape. Details here
Can I divide the output of one simlube into multiple lubrication points?
---
No, the lubricant would take the easiest way. Others would not be supplied with enough grease.
Is the cartridge a battery?
---
No, the cartridge doesn't contain a battery. There's only a gas generating dry cell inside.
How do I know what lubricant I need?
---
Refer to the technical manual of your machine.
Can I use a refill-cartridge 30ml for an other simalube size (e.g. 60ml, 15ml)?
---
No, they are not interchangeable. The resistors in the cartridges are different for each simalube size. Furthermore the seal ring for the 15ml cartridge is thicker than the ones for the other sizes.
What adaptors do I need for the simalube?
---
It depends on your lubrication point. Our lubricators are equipped with a thread G1/4" and could be mounted directly on the lubrication point. If your lubrication point has a different thread, you need a suitable adaptor. Our accessories program offers a variety of different adaptors. Check the User Manual or look it up on the accessories list on our website.
How can I refill the simalube 15 ml?
---
| The 15-ml simalube can be refilled after use. To do this, first unscrew the used gas generator with a 21-mm socket wrench and dispose of it as battery waste. Next, use a plastic rod to push the piston all the way toward the opening. To fill with grease, attach a refill nipple and use a grease gun to slowly fill the simalube, taking care to minimize air bubbles, until the piston is at least 12 mm from the end of the housing. Avoid overfilling. Next, insert a new gas generator, ensuring the O-ring is correctly positioned, and tighten the drive to 0.8 Nm. Finally, note the lubricant type and fill date on the label. | How can I fill the simalube with grease? |
---
Before filling the simalube with grease, push the piston all the way forward. Then place the simalube onto the filling nipple and fill it using a suitable grease gun until the piston reaches its end position. Do not overfill the simalube. After filling, insert the sealing plug and check the position of the O-ring on the drive head. Then screw on the drive head and tighten it to a torque of 1.5 to 2.0 Nm. More Details here
How do I know that the 15ml lubricator is empty?
---
With a telescope magnet you can check the position of the piston, as it has a metallic ring on it. See picture here.
Can it be filled with my own lubricant (grease/oil)?
---
Yes, if the lubricant, escpecially the grease, was tested with simalube, it can be filled with customized grease or oil.
Why do I need to replace the battery every time I put a new lubricator into the Impulse?
---
To ensure that the battery pack has enough power to empty the whole lubricator. The cost of a battery pack is, compared to a failing bearing, caused by a non-running Impulse due to empty batteries, very low.
What is the maximum hose lengh for SL06?
---
If the simalube is used with a hose with inner diameter 6mm, then the maximum hose lengh is 6 meters. If simalubes are aditionally used with an Impulse, the maximum hose lengh goes up to 20 meters.
Where and how do I dispose it?
---
First, unscrew the empty simalube from the lubrication point. Then remove the cover plate and unscrew the gas generator using a 21-mm socket wrench. The intact gas generator must be disposed of through the battery recycling program, while the empty plastic housing is to be disposed of through the plastic recycling program. Important: The two must be disposed of separately. More Details here
How do I know that I have to replace the lubricator?
---
With either the Lubechart, where you exactly see the date of the first installation, or by visual check.
What's the maximum storage time of a simalube
---
2 years of storage + 1 year of use. Reference is the batch number written on the simalube sticker.
Can simatec sell me just the grease/oil?
---
Yes, standard greases in 400ml cartouches, standard oils in 0.5l bottles.
How do I know what time setting I have to choose?
---
With Calculation Pro we provide a tool that helps you to calculate the right size of the lubricator, as well as the time setting. It's available as an app in the app store for free or as a desktop application on our website.
Can I mount the IMPULSE connect directly on a brush?
---
Basically yes. Brushes are mainly used together with an oil filled simalube. Normally there is no need for IMPULSE when using oil filled simalubes. If the IMPULSE is only needed for monitoring via the WoM App, then you can mount the IMPULSE on a brush directly.
