simatherm

What's the warranty period of the induction heaters?
Three years from delivery according to our general terms and conditions of sale and delivery.

Why is the maximum outer diameter of a bearing only 160mm when using the Volcano?
A uniform heating of the inner and outer ring is no longer possible in the outer area of the Volcano, as the magnetic field is not strong enough anymore. Due to this the inner ring would heat up a lot faster than the outer, which may cause damage to the bearing.

The yoke of my heater vibrates and is very loud when I heat a bearing or a workpiece. What can I do about it?
Check whether the contact surfaces of the U-core and the yoke are damaged. The surfaces must be even. If the vibrations persist, use a pharmaceutical vaseline and apply a thin film of lubricant to the surfaces of the U-core.

When do I need a CSA heater?
CSA is a safety check / safety sign used in Canada.

Which yoke do I have to use when I place a bearing / workpiece over the coil to heat it up?
Basically, it works with all yokes. But it is most efficient if you use the largest yoke.

Which Simatherm devices can be controlled via smartphone?
Both the IH045 and the IH125 can be controlled via smartphone using Bluetooth.

Can I also use my own external thermometer to monitor the temperature of the bearings?
Yes, that is possible. However, infrared thermometers should not be used, as they do not provide reliable measurements on shiny metal surfaces.

On the swivel arm of the IH090 it's written that the maximum workpiece weight is 10kg. However, the data sheet of the heater states a maximum workpiece weight of 150kg. What is right?
Both are correct.
The maximum piece weight that can be heated with the IH090 is 150 kg. If workpieces heavier than 10 kg are heated on the yoke, the unit will tilt forward when the swivel device is opened. If possible, such heavy parts should be placed above the coil. If the yoke must be used, the swivel head should be removed.

Does the induction heater work with different workpiece materials?
The IH025 only with ferritic materials. Other simatherm can also heat up, stainless steel, brass, copper, aluminium.

When do I need the time mode?
1. if bearings or workpieces have to be heated up over 250°C (except IH025)
2. if the bearing or workpiece to be heated are not magnetic and therefore the temperature probe doesn't hold (except IH025)
3. to avoid the error E05 when heating a massive bearing or workpiece

Why does the Volcano have a 20 mm diameter spigot on top of the cone and does not taper to a point?
A ferrite core is required to generate the magnetic field. Under the spigot is a small ferrite core around which the coil is wound. It could not have been designed smaller.

What plug is used on the wire of the HPL/HPS
On HPS/HPL is no plug connected, even not for the swiss market.

Can two induction heaters be used for the heating of one big workpiece?
Yes, this is possible. The heating time can be shortened with two induction heaters.

How long is the warranty period after repairs?
One year.

Can the temperature probe be used with all devices?
Yes, the temperature probe can generally be used with all devices. However, since it was calibrated for the original device, there may be deviations of a few degrees Celsius when used with other devices.

My induction heater shows the error E05. What could be the cause for this?
The error E05 occurs when the temperature does not rise by at least 1 °C within the preset time interval during temperature mode. Possible causes are that the temperature probe is still hot from the previous heating cycle, the yoke is too small, the power has been reduced too much, or the workpiece is very massive with a relatively small bore.
