Rachid Benlakhouy took up his new role as International Sales Manager at simatec on 1 November 2010. He will look after the markets of France, North Africa and the Middle East. Rachid Benlakhouy is a dual citizen of Switzerland and Morocco. He speaks French, English, Arabic, German and Spanish. He previously worked for many years for an international elevator company as well as for a mechanical engineering firm in Switzerland. While there, he was a sales engineer responsible for the Middle East. Also in November, Kevin Smith took up a new challenge at simatec as a Customer Services Assistant. He is American and has a degree in History and German. Lindberg & Lund presented simatec products over the course of four days at the «Industrial Trade Fair» in Norway. Mogra SARL participated in the «Micronora» in Besançon as a simatec distributor. The whole range of simatec products was on display at Mogra's spacious stand. Yesterday marked the final day of «Maintain» in Munich where simatec products were presented by German distributor Grützner GmbH. Attendance was high at this year's Maintain trade fair which will be held every two years in the future. Küffer AG displayed our products at the Technische Seilbahnfachtagung Schweiz (Swiss Technical Cable Car Symposium) in St. Moritz. simatec ag supported the exhibitors by providing exhibition materials, amongst other things.

In the last two months, three of our distribution partners have exhibited at major maintenance fairs. Japanese partner STJ presented the simatec product group at Fooma in Tokyo,
while Lenhart & Hasenöhrl exhibited at the manufacturing and maintenance fair in Wels, Austria. At the Bois Guyon circuit in Dreux, France, the Orexad branches in Evreux and Gennevilliers organised a “Jour Technique” (Technical Day). The 50 guests were some of their most important customers. The three-stage campaign was launched with a personalised e-mail to all mountain railway companies. During the second stage, partners independently sent out a personalised postal mailing. During the third and final stage, the cable and mountain railways received follow-up telephone calls.
The promotional campaign was accompanied by press reports and advertisements in specialist journals and on the main Internet platforms. simatec's Italian partner also attended the Alpitec trade fair in Bolzano from 13 – 15 April.

Following the successful use of simalube on the "Glacier Paradiese" mountain railway in Zermatt, simatec has started a promotional campaign to draw attention to its suitability for use on other mountain railways.

During the past two months, four of our partners have taken part in large European maintenance trade fairs. simatec ag supported all the exhibitors, including providing them with exhibition material.
Due to the noticeably improved economic situation this year, the fairs were well attended, and our partners succeeded in establishing numerous new contacts with potential customers.

On 2 and 3 February 2010, Product Manager Mateusz Glura and Service Engineer Marek Zasowski visited simatec to attend a two-day training course.
During the two days, Mateusz and Marek gained an important insight into simatec products. The course was rounded off by a visit to a cardboard factory where numerous simalubes are deployed.
“Our new partners' in-depth technical knowledge made the course very constructive and interesting for all involved,” says Sales Manager Jürg Moor, summing up the two days. Back in Poland, Mateusz and Marek will pass on what they have learnt to the MARGO sales team and assist them with any technical questions they may have.
“On behalf of the simatec team, I would like to thank Mateusz and Marek for their commitment and look forward to working with them,” said Mischa Wyssmann, CEO of simatec.
The lubrication kit for escalators which we presented in the newsletter back in September 2009 has gone down a storm in the industry. Fifty of these applications are already being deployed in Switzerland. Experiences so far have been extremely positive. The product has been particularly well received in Northern Europe, with test installations already in place in Finland and the UK. Other sales partners and escalator manufacturers have also expressed an interest.

simatec ag participated in the Maintenance fair in Zurich for the second time.
The two-day fair once again attracted many visitors. simatec established numerous new contacts and had some interesting discussions with potential customers at its stand.
The Maintenance fair is aimed at maintenance technicians and specialists. "These target groups are important decision-makers for simatec,” says stand manager Peter Steffen. “The fair is a good way for us to raise the profile of our products in Switzerland. I think our participation was a success”. A simatec stand for 2011 is therefore already in the pipeline.

Since January 2010, simalube has been certified for use in hazardous underground environments where there is a risk of explosion.
The dispenser can now be used without worries in all hazardous environments where there is a risk of explosion. The KEMA certificate on the right confirms that simalube meets all requirements for underground use, for example in mines, tunnel construction, etc.
